Birgit is a wholehearted and profound Iyengar Yoga teacher; certified in Iyengar Yoga and Yoga for Scoliosis. She has been practicing Iyengar Yoga since 1995 Yoga and teaches in this tradition since 2004. Every other year she travels to Pune, India, where the Ramamani Iyengar Institute is located, to study with the Iyengar family.
Her deep roots extend beyond yoga with decades of studies in Shotokan Karate, Zen Meditation, Qi Gong and Reiki and her classes are a harmonious composition of solidity, lightness, pensivity, meditativety, integration, integrity, spirituality, compassion, discipline, community building, responsibility and creativity. She encourages the students to practice the precepts of Yoga defined by the sage Patanjali in the yoga sutras, on and off the yoga mat. Birgit is always thankful and feels deep gratitude to all her teachers along the path, the journey of life, including Sensei Haramoto, the late Zen Monk Hannya Koun, Professor A. Tayam, the late B.K.S. Iyengar, Geetaji and Prashantji Iyengar and her mentors Ben Thomas and Elise Miller.
